Together at Last

This past week we drove to Utah to visit Greg's family. His brother, Eric just returned from his mission in Halifax, Canada. This was the first time the family had all been together in two years. (Eric is the guy in the front!)

Emily loved being held by her Grandpa Burr. She also got to meet her cousin, Joel.

He greeted her with a kiss! I think they'll get along great!

Emily got to meet her Great Grandma Gunderson. Greg was really excited to show Emily off to his family.

Emily also got to meet her Great Grandpa Gunderson. She sure has a lot of family that loves her already. She's only been alive for 5 weeks!!

This picture is pretty cool. In this photo: Grandma Burr, Haley, Great Grandma Burr, and Emily. That makes four generations!

A pretty view of the Draper Temple. Isn't Utah beautiful??

Welcome Back!

This last weekend we went up to Idaho to visit my brother Derek. He just completed his two year mission in San Fernando, California. It was a great reunion and he really liked Emily. Can you blame him?

Emily also met Grandpa Flake for the first time. Today is my parents' 37th Anniversary. Emily is their 22nd grandchild. Two days ago the 23rd grandchild was born. Now they have 23 grandkids to show for 37 years of marriage. Pretty cool!

Emily met her Aunt Cassidy for the first time. You might say that they hit it off!

Emily even met her Aunt Ashley who is having a baby next month. Emily will have lots of cousins her age!

Here is Emily with her oldest Flake cousin, Ammon. He is 13 years old. Pretty awesome!

Emily Mazel

On Thursday, May 17 I started having contractions at about 1am. We finally headed to the hospital at 8:30 that morning when the contractions were three minutes apart. This is how I looked right before we left... I was probably having a contraction while the picture was being taken.
P.S. The reason there is a 'Happy Birthday' banner in the background is because my birthday was two days before. Our birthdays will be two days apart!
At 1:41pm Emily Mazel was born: 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 19.5 inches long. She had a little fluid in her lungs so she was taken to the NICU. Although we were sad she couldn't be in our room, we were so happy when we finally got to hold our baby girl.
Rachel and Mom Burr came to visit Emily in the hospital. As you can tell, Emily loves visitors.
My mom also came to visit Emily. Our families were wonderful to help us out with the arrival of our new baby girl. In photo: Mom Flake, me, Mom Burr, Rachel, and Greg.
Here is my mom holding her favorite 22nd grandchild. Do you like the hat that the NICU nurses put on Emily?
Emily had to stay in the NICU for almost 48 hours. We finally got to take her home on Saturday, May 19. We dressed her up all cute for her big day.
...And we haven't really stopped dressing her up! It's too fun to have a baby girl. She is so adorable!
On Monday, May 21 Dad and Mom Burr came for a visit.
On Thursday, May 24 Grandma and Grandpa Burr came for a visit. FYI: Emily is named after Grandpa Burr's mother.
It's a little tiring to have a newborn, but we sure love her.
Especially her daddy!

We love having Emily in our family. She is our little miracle.

May Milestones

On Wednesday, May 2 we had our big Pre-K Spring Program at school. My class sang 'Rockin' Robin'. They were a hit! Everybody loved them! I was proud of them for doing so well.
On Saturday, May 5 we drove to Cedar City to celebrate Rachel's graduation from Southern Utah University. Of course we mixed up the time change and totally missed her graduation, but it was nice to spend some time with family. In photo: Dad Burr, Mom Burr, me, Rachel, Greg, Aubry, Joel, and Jesse. We had a picnic in the park, played some games, and had some nice talks. In this picture I am 38.5 weeks along.

I work in this building. Welcome to the Kinderschool!
After working at the Las Vegas Day School for 9 months, I am quitting so I can be a stay at home mom. Having this job has been a tremendous blessing and has better prepared me to be a mother.
Here I am on my 28th birthday. Greg made me chicken cordon bleu, homemade rolls, veggies, and yummy rice. He is such a good husband!
He even made me cookie cake with 28 candles. I'm so old!
Here is proof that I blew all of them out!
Being 28 isn't so bad!
On May 16 (the day after my birthday) I reached my due date!! 40 weeks has just flown by (j/k)...

April Fun

On April 15 Greg turned the big 2-8. If you look closely I made him a cake with music notes on it. I was so proud of myself for being so thoughtful!

Greg's parents flew in for a surprise birthday visit.  ALL week I had to keep it a secret. I guess I did a good job because Greg was totally surprised to see them!

He blew out the candles and got some great gifts. Of course the best gift was the visit from his parents.
On Monday morning he took them hiking at Red Rock Canyon while I went to work.
They had a great time!
Then I met up with them after school and we went to Smash Burger. Awesome people, awesome memories, awesome times! We hope they come when he turns 29 too!
On April 19 the staff at my school threw me a Baby Shower. There was lots of food and fun! I am very lucky to work with such wonderful people. All day I wore a pink award that said: 'Mom to be!' You might say I'm a little excited to meet our baby girl.
These women all teach Pre-K with me. In photo: Deborah, me, Christine, and Nancy.
On April 21 the women in the ward threw me a Baby Shower too. This is a picture of SOME of the women who came. People are so good to us here!
Here is a picture of the Young Women who came! They are awesome!
Sister Snow was the woman in charge and did a great job! Thanks!
On April 28 we had Youth Conference. We went on an 8-mile walk to the temple. It was pretty fun and exhausting (I only did part of it). In this picture the youth are all pointing to 'F.P'.  F.P. stands for Francisco Park Ward---the ward we belong to.
It was a hard walk, but we had some great talks along the way.
And we made it to the temple!!! Arise and shine forth!!
