One Year Ago

(No, I'm not pregnant again...haha!) This month marks something so special for me and Greg. One year ago we found out that we were going to have a baby. Such a tremendous blessing and answer to our prayers.

I remember how happy we were to share our news with our families. We went to the M&M Factory to print 'Baby Burr' and 'We're Pregnant' on M&M's.

We were beaming. We were so excited to be parents!

We even got to practice being parents at our Ward Christmas Party.

I started to gain a few extra pounds...

...maybe more than a few over the next 9 months.

But the day FINALLY came on Thursday, May 17.

We got our little angel from heaven.

Today little Emily Mazel has been with us for 4 months.

Being parents is just as wonderful and rewarding as we thought it would be.

We love her so much!

Although she may want to be sent away...

She will be ours forever.

Baby Mine

Well, you might say that we're getting pretty good at being parents... okay, that was a joke, but we are learning. I spend a lot of time with Emily and we've become pretty good friends. Let me tell you about her...

She is pretty cute and smiles a lot.

I mean A LOT!!!

She loves her mom the best :)

She can be sneaky.

She's a little chubby, which is a good thing right now.

She knows how to have a good time and keep it real.

And at 3 months she already wears her emotions on her sleeve! We are so happy to be her parents.

3 other cool things...

First, last Sunday, August 19 we had Stake Conference. We completed the challenge of last Stake Conference to read the Book of Mormon in 6 months. It was so fun to read it as a couple. As you can see, I had fun coloring the chart...

We did it!!

Second, there isn't much outdoorsy stuff to do here in Vegas, but on Saturday August 25 we went to Mount Charleston. It's only an hour away. Who knew places like this existed here?? So pretty! I'm proud to be a Nevadan.

Greg climbed a tree in flip flops. Lookin' good!

Our last outing of the summer and we had a blast!

Next time we'll go camping.

I don't think Emily liked that idea too much. :(

Lastly, this summer we prayed really hard for Greg to find a job. About a month and a half ago, he got one. Here he is infront of his work: 'San Diego Florist Supplies, Inc.'. He drives the delivery truck. We feel so blessed that he found something. Life is good!

Some of my Best Friends are Flakes

We just got back from our Flake Family reunion. We had a great time, especially Emily!

Emily finally got to meet three other cousins her same age. From youngest to oldest (left to right): Delaney born in July, Hazel born in June, Emily born in May, and Kate born in April. Some day they will all be freshmen roommates at BYU.

Some of us participated in the Flake Family Fun Run on Thursday morning. Everyone who participated got a medal. I may or may not be a little out of shape...

Greg loved playing with the nieces and nephews...especially on the merry go round.

Emily loved reuniting with her favorite Aunt Cassidy. Look at them, they match!

I have some silly siblings...they insisted on me taking this picture.

...And this one too. Derek thought it was pretty funny because he's only been home from his mission for a month and it looks like he already has a wife and a baby. BTW the girl is my sister Cassidy and the baby is my niece Caroline.

Riding horses was a lot of fun too. Doesn't Greg look like a natural??

Happy Family Reunion!

We Have Been Blessed

Emily is now more than 2 months old and cuter than ever. Isn't that smile to die for??

This last week we went to Utah again. It was so fun to meet up with some old friends and catch up. Marissa and Lisa were my co-workers back in the day at the late Farrer Elementary. We had a great time sharing lunch at the Great China restaurant.

On July 24, Pioneer Day, Greg blessed Emily. It was so wonderful to have both the Flakes and the Burrs present to support Emily's special day.

Both Grandpa Flake and Grandpa Burr were in the circle.

The proud parents

It is pretty neat that Emily is named after an ancestor and was blessed on Pioneer Day. In this photo we have Great Grandpa and Grandma Burr. Emily is named after Emily Mazel, Great Grandpa Burr's mother.

This blessing dress has a lot of significance. All of my six sisters and I wore this dress when we were blessed. Many of my nieces have also worn it on their blessing days.

Our happy family (picture taken in Springville, UT).

We sure do love our baby girl!

July Celebrations

This 4th of July we made red, white, and blue cupcakes. We had so much fun making them that we have decided to make them every year. (We may have eaten a few of the 'broken' cupcakes).

This month Emily has started interacting more with us. Greg loves to play with her...even when she's asleep!

'My first 4th'

Me and little Emily

Here we are having a great time at the Ward 4th of July Party! We know how to have a good time.

Emily has gotten a little chunky this month...take a look at that stomach!!

Too cute

Hanging out with daddy.

We took Emily to the temple for the first time. Do you think it counts since we went to the one in Vegas?? j/k

Emily learned how to smile...although she doesn't always do it on command.

Don't you wish you could just hold her??
