The End of 2020

Well, we made it to the end of 2020! I would have to say that December was one of my favorite months this year. Christmas was so magical around here!

This month Leslie got new glasses. She was as excited to get these glasses as she was about Christmas. Our little girl is growing up!

These two get mistaken for twins quite a bit. They are 15 months apart and most of the time, very good friends.

We were a little worried about virtual school for the 3 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas break, but the teachers made it super fun for the students. Emily loved doing this Science experiment online with her class.

On their last day of virtual school before the break, Emily wore her Christmas sweater and Leslie had pajama day. They were all smiles!

These two wanted their picture taken too! Oh Caleb, I love your smile!

I got some fun gifts this year from some of my sisters. My sister, Whitney, made me this really cool Christmas ornament.

My sister, Sarah, got us this really nice wall hanging with our last name. Unfortunately it's the same color as our wall, so we'll have to paint it.

My sister, Ashley, got us this cool pop-up nativity.

The Primary got each of our kids one of these bags. They dropped it off just in time for snack time, so we were all very grateful.

We did some fun crafts this month. We tried out glitter glue, which was very popular around here.

We also tried out some rainbow scratch paper, which was very fun!

The girls drew pictures for their teachers and wrote them letters. I thought Leslie's was pretty cute.

One day Emily spent all day sewing. She made some Barbie clothes out of an old sock. Pretty impressive for an 8-year-old, eh?

We tried to not go crazy on the Christmas goodies this year, so we only made: sugar cookies, peanut butter cups, and white chocolate covered pretzels.

Getting ready to eat Christmas Eve dinner!

Caleb is obsessed with monkeys, so he got a new pillow case and blanket (made by my mom) for Christmas!

These girls spent hours playing with these princess stickers.

Cute little Caleb on Christmas day!

This kid likes his suckers!

Greg got an alto recorder for Christmas, so he has played it a lot the last few days. These kids love to dance while he plays.

The best gift I got this Christmas was a new dining room table. It was a welcome surprise from Greg. We've been married for 10 years and this is our first time buying one. It's so fancy I feel like I can't eat on it!

On December 30th we drove down to the Boise fairgrounds to see their Christmas lights. They were really awesome!

Caleb loved seeing them the very most and cried when it was over.

The huge tree was pretty fun to see all lit up.

The kids loved driving through the tunnels the most. It was a fun night!

It's always a little sad when the Christmas season is over.

At least I get these kids all year round! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Letter 2020

Dearest Family and Friends,

2020 has been a wild year, but as we have reflected on it, we are grateful for the things we have been blessed with. We have so much to be grateful for.

Greg (36)- Greg has worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for three years now. Currently he works as a branch manager at a branch here in Boise. When the Coronavirus became a thing, back in March, it was Greg's brillant idea to buy a trampoline. It has been a great and much needed addition to our home. In April Greg and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary in quarantine. Greg did an amazing job making it special and cooked me a fabulous dinner, complete with some cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory! A few months later we went ziplining together at Eagle Island. That was a date we'll always remember!

Haley (36)- It has been an interesting year with a lot of it spent at home. Our kids are currently doing virtual school, so a lot of my day is filled helping them be on top of their school work. I have also tried to be creative with activities we do at home. We've done a lot of crafts, played a lot on our trampoline, and gone on bike rides. Over the summer we went on some fun hikes including Camel's Back, Elephant Rock, Seaman's Gulch, and Silver Creek Plunge. We took a few trips to Utah this summer as well, which is always a highlight. I continue to serve in Young Women's and teach online at VIPKid.

Emily (8)- Emily turned 8 this year and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It has been so fun to watch her testimony grow. She is in 3rd grade and loves her teacher. Most of this school year has been online, but she has a good attitude and is learning a lot. She still loves to do crafts, write stories, and draw pictures. She is taking swim lessons at the YMCA and really enjoys it. Greg teaches her piano at home. She just learned how to play Jingle Bells. She is a fun and creative girl.

Leslie (5)- Leslie is in Kindergarten this year. Like Emily, most of her school year has been online, but she is still learning and doing well. This summer she learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. It's a good thing that she is good about wearing a helmet because she rides fast! Over the summer we went to Middleton a lot to visit my parents. They have a neighborhood pool that we would swim in a lot. At first Leslie was terrified and now she takes swim lessons at the YMCA with Emily. Greg also teaches Leslie piano. She is easy going and everyone's friend.

Abby (4)- Abby is a sweet girl with a lot of spunk. Right now her current obsession is Frozen 2. I think I have watched it with her about 10 times. Abby loves her siblings and always wants to play. She loves coloring, drawing, and cracking jokes. This year she memorized the First Vision along with her sisters. She couldn't recite it without a huge smile on her face the entire time! Abby's favorite activities this year were going to the apple orchard, going to Linder Farms, and jumping at Fly High. She has lots of energy and makes us all happy.

Caleb (2)- Caleb is a rambunctious 2-year-old. He is everything boy, but has three sisters. He loves to play catch with his dad. He also knows how to bust a dance move. He has learned a lot this year and just a few days ago started sleeping in a toddler bed. He has very strong opinions about what he likes and doesn't like. Thankfully he really likes his mom! Over the summer we went to the zoo and he loved looking at all of the animals, especially the monkeys. We love having a little boy at our house. He is adored by all of us.

We are thankful for our Savior, Jesus Christ and this time of year to reflect on His birth. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Love,

Greg, Haley, Emily, Leslie, Abigail, and Caleb Burr

Thanksgiving 2020

This year we went to West Jordan, Utah for Thanksgiving. All of Greg's siblings and their families came too, so it was a very fun reunion. The cousins were so happy to be together.

The adults had a lot of fun too. Have you ever played the game Werewolf? Well, it created a lot of laughs on Saturday night!

4 friends: Caleb, Leslie, Meric, and Calvin

BFFs: Joel and Emily

On Friday we drove to Bountiful to visit my sister Bethany's family. We had a great time!

So many kids!

The next day we ran a few errands in town and I ran into a sister missionary from when my dad was the mission president in Louisville, Kentucky. It was so great to see Sister Senger and catch up!

The family party continued that evening with yummy soup and bread.

My favorite guys

Greg, Aubry, Malerie, and Michael

Cute little cousins: Caleb, Abby, and Vanessa.

Primary Singing Time with the Burr cousins...the kids LOVED it!

On Monday Emily and Leslie started doing virtual school again. Our kids will be doing virtual school until January 19th. They like it fine. Emily's favorite part of the day is when her teacher does read aloud and she gets to sit wherever she wants...which happens to be on my bed!

Every evening in December we do a Christmas activity together as a family. On Monday it was Christmas coloring!

This kid has such a strong personality. His new favorite word is: hate. He says he hates everything including the outside, naps, and apples.

Leslie's adorable school picture

My mom turned 68 on Monday, so we drove over to her house to give her these awesome flowers. Too bad we had to stay in our car and wear face masks, it was still really great to see her. Dumb Covid!

Emily and Leslie take swim lessons at the YMCA a couple of times a week. Everyone LOVES wearing their goggles, especially these two!

Abby and Caleb love playing by this cute baby dragon at the YMCA while we wait.

The kids have really missed not going to story time at the library for the last 9 months, but they love doing the crafts that they send home when we pick up books. This one brought big smiles to their faces!

We're so excited for Christmas!
